"Justice League" Movie to Feature Amazons From "Wonder Woman"

Given that Wonder Woman made box office history when it debuted in theaters, it's only fitting that a sequel would be in the works. (Hollywood does love its franchises, after all.) But if waiting for
Wonder Woman II feels like a long way off, get this: you'll be returning to the island of Themyscira sooner than you think.

In a new interview with the Los Angeles Times , Gal Gadot, Robin Wright, and Connie Nielsen — who played the princess, general, and queen of the Amazons, respectively — have confirmed that they'll all be back when Justice League comes to theaters this fall.
They didn't explain a whole lot regarding exactly how they'll fit into the supergroup narrative, but Nielson hinted that Queen Hippolyta and General Antiope "got to do more in Justice League as well. As sisters as well. Kind of badass as well."
Wright agreed, adding that fans will see "more of the story, you get some of the history" of the Amazon warriors who inhabit the all-female paradise island.
She also notes that the beauty of the Amazons is that they are a "unisex, nomadic tribe that they were born to fight to protect, yes, Themyscira and this culture, but also to bring what [the character of Wonder Woman] brings to the thematic message, which is let's just build a future of human goodness. Let's bring it back into the world."
Gal agrees, explaining that "When Diana comes to the real world she's completely oblivious about gender and society rules, that women are not equal to men. That's the way to show it because, honestly, at the end of the day we're all equal souls in this universe. And it doesn't matter if we're men or women."
Given what we've seen in the Justice League trailers, which feature not only Wonder Woman, but Mera, who is queen of the sea, that message will hopefully continue to resonate in the bro-heavy superhero lineup. Now, how long until we get a movie that is only about the Amazons? Hollywood, we're waiting.
