A week after his death, XXXTentacion lands his first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The late rapper’s single “SAD!” jumps from No. 52 to No. 1. The song previously peaked at No. 7 on March 31. It leads the Streaming Songs chart with 48.9 million U.S. streams (up 264 percent) in the week ending June 21, according to Nielsen Music.
According to Billboard, X becomes the first artist to top the Hot 100 posthumously in a lead role since The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo Money Mo Problems” in 1997.
The song is from XXXTentacion’s album ?, which debuted at No. 1 in March. The album reenters the top 10 on the Billboard 200 this week, jumping 24-3 with 94,000 units. His 2017 album 17 also rises 60-7 with 55,000.
XXXTentacion was shot and killed in an apparent robbery in Broward County, Fla. on June 18. A suspect has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
