According to French outlet L’Equipe (via The Metro), Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has decided to join Antonio Conte’s side, despite being linked with a move to join former Blues boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
As per L’Equipe’s claims the west Londoners are close to securing a deal for the industrious midfielder having agreed a €40m (£35m) fee with the Ligue 1 champions.
The 22-year-old played a key role as Leonardo Jardim lead the principality club to their first league title in 17 years, as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Our landlord feels this is could well be an outstanding deal for Conte as he looks to swell his ranks ahead of a return to Europe’s top table next season, as well as continuing to compete on a domestic level.
However, the general consensus in the bar is that the way in which Jardim’s young Monaco side his being picked apart, although inevitable, is somewhat of a shame.
